Laurent Simons, a young man from the Belgian coastal town of Ostend, has just received his bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Antwerp, making him the world's second-youngest graduate. Simons, who is eleven years old, just took a year to finish his bachelor's degree, which normally takes at least three years.

"I don't really care if I'm the youngest," Simons stated in an interview with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. "For me, it's all about gaining information."
Simons remarked, "This is the first puzzle piece in my goal of replacing body components with mechanical parts."
"Immortality, he says" is his ambition, according to the kid prodigy. "I want to be able to replace as many body components as possible," says the researcher.

"I want to collaborate with the top teachers in the world, peek inside their brains, and figure out how they think," he stated. At the age of eight, he completed his high school education in just 1.5 years and obtained his high school diploma.
He became fascinated by classical mechanics and quantum physics last year, and he became consumed with learning everything he could about them. He subsequently put all of his other projects on hold so that he could concentrate solely on this.
